This proprietary design is our sleekest crank and cover handle. This is the obvious choice if you’re wanting the most minimal look possible.
Our robust hardware is constructed from solid metal including bronze, brass, zinc, or stainless steel; these materials are necessary to move our oversized units. Stainless steel operators and gear systems are standard on most of our products.
A few points of clarity on hardware finishes.
Offerings with this designation utilize protective finishes that are appropriate for humid coastal environments. The most common protective finish is Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coatings, although some of our suppliers use other proprietary coatings for similar coastal protection.
This finish, abbreviated as ORB, is considered a living finish. Over time the outer color will wear away revealing the underlying material. The intensity of the reveal depends on the frequency of use, e.g., the handle on a passive French door panel will ultimately look different than the handle on the more often used active panel.
This finish is multi-toned and includes an element of brushing, it almost simulates a weathered ORB finish. The brushing creates variation across different hardware offerings, e.g., some hardware may present more of the bright brass tones whereas other pieces may present more of the darker tones.
This is not just a finish; the moniker Rustic Bronze indicates these handles are solid sand cast bronze. The color qualities are perfectly bronze (a great match for our ORB finishes), but you’ll also find an authentic bronze texture complete with tiny pits.
This living finish in our Traditional Pushout hardware line is an intentional outlier. We have not sought to make this finish available across our entire hardware program, this offering is specifically present as a very historically correct option for our pushout awning and casement platform (also see Rustic Bronze).
